Amazon Sued Over Treatment of Pregnant Warehouse Workers

A lawsuit has been filed against Amazon (AMZN) in Brooklyn federal court on behalf of four former warehouse employees. The plaintiffs accuse the company of systematically discriminating against pregnant employees by denying basic accommodations and firing workers who missed too much time for pregnancy-related medical needs.

The lawsuit, which was filed on September 8, 2026, follows a similar case filed in New Jersey in 2025 and another in New York in 2022. Amazon claims it provides pregnancy-related accommodations to tens of thousands of employees each year and approved more than 99.9% of requests in the past year.

The company's strong profitability and scale could cushion the financial impact of the litigation, with Amazon generating $27.5 billion in operating income in the second quarter and a total sales rise of 20% to $200.6 billion.
