Amazon Suspends Partnership with Cargo Carrier After Miami Crash

Amazon has suspended its partnership with 21 Air after one of the cargo carrier's planes crashed last week in Miami, killing five people. The Boeing 767 came in fast and careened off the runway, hitting a van carrying workers at a plane cleaning company.

The incident occurred on September 6, when Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air, was approaching for landing at the Miami International Airport. One of the pilots warned his counterpart that they were going too fast as they approached and after touchdown, according to flight information released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on September 9.

The plane was unsteady as it came in and didn't touch down until it was well beyond where it was supposed to on the runway. This limited the amount of space it had to stop, and a tail wind may have helped propel the plane further.
