Amazon Taps Alumni Network for AI Talent Amid Layoffs
Amazon has launched an initiative to rehire former employees, including those laid off in recent corporate layoffs, as it seeks to fill open positions in its artificial intelligence and cloud-computing divisions.
The company is leveraging its alumni network, offering fast-track interviews and attendance inquiries to former workers. According to internal recruiter emails obtained by Business Insider, Amazon's AI agent organization has been reaching out to former employees with openings that match their skills.
One email, part of an outreach push titled 'Swami's Boomerang Reengagement Initiative,' encouraged a former employee to explore new opportunities, citing 'compelling work happening across AI/ML right now.'
AWS Finance recruiter offered another former employee an expedited interview track that led directly to a job offer, also inquiring whether Amazon's strict return-to-office policy had played a role in the employee's original decision to leave.
