Amazon Topples the Trillion-Dollar Mark
Amazon has reached $3 trillion in market capitalization, joining an elite group of companies known as the 'Magnificent 7'. This milestone comes after two years of growth from its previous record of $2 trillion in June 2024. The company's strong fundamentals and aggressive investments in artificial intelligence (AI) have been key drivers of this growth.
Amazon's second-quarter earnings report showed a significant increase in capital spending, with the company budgeting $220 billion for this year - the highest on Wall Street. This investment is focused on building out its AI infrastructure, including AWS data centers and specialized chips. According to Roth Capital, Amazon has the highest return on invested capital among its peers.
Retail sentiment on Stocktwits remains extremely bullish, with 62 out of 65 analysts rating Amazon a 'Buy' or higher. The stock has gained over 24% this year, outperforming the S&P 500 and its peers in the $3 trillion market cap club.
