Amazon Unveils New Capabilities for Bulky Package Shippers
Amazon has rolled out new capabilities to help bulky package shippers navigate complex logistics. One of the key features is the introduction of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping labels, which can be purchased through Amazon's Buy Shipping service.
Sellers will be able to access these LTL labels starting in October via Seller Central and third-party shipping software, taking advantage of Amazon's negotiated rates and protection from late deliveries. This means lower label costs and fewer disputes affecting margins and account health, according to Ripley MacDonald, VP of product and software development at Amazon Supply Chain Services.
In early 2027, Amazon will launch regional delivery pricing for heavy and bulky items, allowing sellers to set fees by region and offer free shipping when it makes sense. Additionally, the company will connect big and bulky product sellers to local carriers capable of same- or next-day delivery within a hundred miles of their warehouse.
Amazon Seller Flex, an invite-only program that enables sellers to fulfill orders directly from their own warehouses, will also be expanded to include heavy and bulky order fulfillment. Once the seller picks, packs, and hands off the big and bulky order, Amazon handles everything else, including warehouse coordinated pickups, in-home delivery, placement, installation, customer service, and returns.
MacDonald noted that sellers using this program are seeing more than 2.5 times the sales compared to those shipping heavy and bulky orders on their own.
