Amazon is making significant investments in its Connecticut workforce, with plans to raise hourly pay for thousands of employees. The e-commerce giant will provide an additional $1 per hour to eligible workers, bringing the company's minimum starting wage for full-time operations positions to $20 an hour. This increase will result in average pay for those workers rising to nearly $24 an hour.

The raises are part of Amazon's $1.5 billion nationwide investment in higher wages for warehouse, delivery, and other operations workers. The company did not disclose the exact number of Connecticut workers who will receive raises, but it employs over 15,000 people across the state in 17 facilities.

Amazon is also introducing benefits such as 10% discounts on eligible groceries and household essentials purchased online through Amazon and Whole Foods Market, along with a 20% discount on in-store purchases at Whole Foods. Additionally, employees will have access to a new credit union membership offering, which includes checking and savings accounts without monthly maintenance or overdraft fees.
