Amazon Ups Louisiana Bet to $18 Billion
Amazon has announced an additional $6 billion investment in northwest Louisiana, bringing its total investment to $18 billion. This expansion comes less than six months after Amazon's initial $12 billion investment in February.
The new investment will create up to 750 full-time jobs and an estimated 499 indirect new jobs, totaling 709 potential new job opportunities in the region.
According to Louisiana Economic Development (LED), this additional investment demonstrates confidence in the state's workers, business environment, and ability to execute. 'When one of the world's largest companies chooses to deepen its commitment this early, it sends a clear message,' said Gov. Jeff Landry.
A major concern for Amazon was investing in infrastructure and protecting resources. The company plans to invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure and has coordinated with local utilities to ensure sufficient capacity for both its facilities and existing customers.
