SK Hynix Pledges Billions in Additional Shareholder Returns
SK Hynix Inc., a South Korean memory chipmaker, may follow up its new stock buyback plan by announcing additional shareholder returns worth at least $130 billion through next year. The company's recent announcement of a $29 billion share repurchase has been seen as a major move in the industry.
JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s analyst Jay Kwon notes that the key takeaway from SK Hynix's plan is its decision to lift the ceiling on returns, pledging more than half of its cumulative free cash flow over 2025 to 2027. This change allows the company to provide more substantial shareholder returns.
According to JPMorgan, this new approach will make SK Hynix one of the most generous return-generating companies in the industry, rivaling other major players in the sector.
