Amazon Widens Refund Payouts to Millions More Consumers

Amazon is expanding its refund payouts to millions more consumers who were harmed by the company's deceptive Prime enrollment practices. The move comes as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). As of September 2026, Amazon has issued over $845 million in redress payments to consumers.

The eligibility requirement is now expanding beyond low-use subscribers to include those who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits over a one-year period. The individual payment cap could jump from $51 to $200 total.

Those who have already received earlier checks may see an additional automatic supplemental payment of up to $149 starting in April 2027. All new payments will roll out automatically via PayPal, Venmo, or mailed check starting October 1, 2026.
