Amazon's $3 Trillion Breakout Vanishes Amid Record Quarter
Amazon's market capitalization touched $3 trillion for the first time on August 3 but fell to around $2.86 trillion in just eight trading days, a 7.7% drawdown.
The stock price has declined in seven out of the last ten sessions, with Thursday's closing price at $265.13 down 0.80% from the previous day.
Despite this decline, Amazon reported its best quarter in corporate history on July 30, with revenue reaching $200.6 billion, up 20% year over year, and operating income jumping 43% to $27.5 billion.
The AWS segment delivered its best quarter since 2021, with revenue growing 36.7% year over year to $42.2 billion, exceeding consensus estimates by six percentage points.
