Amazon's Biggleswade Warehouse Plans Spark Concerns Over Traffic Congestion

Amazon has submitted plans for a new warehouse in Biggleswade, which could create over 2,300 jobs according to councillor Grant Fage. The proposed site on Stratton Business Park would include three extra units and 166,000 square meters of floor space.

The application includes changes to the A1 south roundabout, including traffic lights on both northern and southern approaches. However, councillor Fage expressed concerns about the impact on the town's road network, calling it 'sub-optimal' to have traffic signals in this location.

Councillor Mark Knight also reacted to the news, warning that installing traffic lights on the A1 roundabout is 'madness' and a repeat of the short-term thinking seen at the Black Cat roundabout.
