Amazon's Logistics Overhaul Faces New Legal Headaches
Amazon is pushing forward with its multi-billion-dollar logistics overhaul while simultaneously defending itself against legal challenges in Britain. The company's dual efforts reflect its commitment to reshaping how goods move and are sold.
The tech giant is investing heavily in a $100 million robotics manufacturing facility in Indiana, which is expected to create 300 jobs by 2028. This strategic move will enable Amazon to produce robotic units in-house, aiming to squeeze further efficiency out of its logistics centers.
Amazon is also opening its wallet for the humans who keep its logistics centers and delivery routes running. The company plans to invest $1.9 billion in 2027 in its Delivery Service Partner program, partly supporting driver pay. As a result, average national earnings are expected to climb to nearly $24 an hour.
However, Amazon faces another legal challenge across the Atlantic. Britain's competition appeal tribunal has ruled that parts of a consumer lawsuit against Amazon and Apple can proceed. The case centers on an alleged agreement between the two companies that restricted independent sellers from offering Apple products on the UK marketplace.
