Amazon's Secret Rare Book Scanning Operation Exposed

Amazon's secret plans for rare books have been exposed thanks to a tracking device affixed to one of the shipments. The package, containing 1,000 books printed in small batches or obscure languages, was purchased through an online marketplace called Biblio and sent to an Amazon warehouse in Las Vegas. According to Publishers Weekly, book sales increased by 2.5% in 2025 over the previous year.

The tracking device revealed that the shipment went from a California airport to Milwaukee International Airport before traveling west by truck to Colorado. From there, it arrived at the Amazon Fulfillment Center LAS8 in Las Vegas. A team called VGT3, which has a logo featuring a tyrannosaurus rex baring its teeth over an open book, is allegedly collecting and scanning rare books for their AI model.

Alejandro, the seller who sent out the bulk shipment, described the books as having 'historical value, intellectual value, [and] sentimental value.' He believes that AI companies are only interested in the content of these books, not the actual physical objects. In response to an inquiry from Blaze News, an Amazon spokesperson stated that the company purchases books through commercial channels to help develop and improve its products and services.
