AMD Prepares to Raise GPU Prices Amid Soaring Memory Costs
AMD is set to raise its graphics processing unit (GPU) prices by at least 10% in August, just days after Nvidia announced a similar price hike. The move comes as the cost of memory continues to rise due to increased demand for artificial intelligence applications.
As per ChannelGate on Weibo, AMD has informed its board partners that GPU and memory bundles will see a price increase. It is unclear whether standalone graphics cards will also be affected by this price hike.
The situation is already dire, with many GPUs selling at significantly higher prices than their launch prices. The RX 9050 GPU, for example, was originally launched for under $300 but can now be found for as high as $550 in the US.
