AMD Takes the Lead with EPYC Venice: Outperforming Intel and Nvidia in Latest Benchmarks

AMD has made claims that its EPYC Venice processor outperforms Intel's Xeon 6980P by 2.37x and Nvidia's Vera CPU by 2.24x in integer rate tests, according to benchmarks released on September 18, 2026.

The results are based on the SPEC CPU 2026 Integer Rate test suite and were published by AMD as part of its efforts to promote its Helios platform, a rack-scale AI system that pairs EPYC processors with Instinct GPUs and Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 system.

AMD has also released ROCm 10, a software update that it claims delivers up to 3.3x higher inference throughput and 2.4x higher training throughput compared to its previous version on identical hardware.

The release of ROCm 10 is significant because Nvidia's CUDA platform has historically had a decade-long head start in terms of developer adoption, making software efficiency and memory bandwidth critical factors in AI workloads.
