AMD's Inference Push Continues to Drive Explosive Growth
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) continues to impress investors with its latest quarterly results. The company's focus on inference, a crucial aspect of artificial intelligence (AI), is paying off in a big way.
Inference refers to the process of running AI models in production, which requires significant computational power and infrastructure costs. AMD's strategy is centered around building products that cater specifically to this workload, capturing a larger share of the lucrative inference market.
The company's Q2 FY2026 revenue came in at $11.54 billion, up 50.11% year-over-year, beating consensus estimates by 2.04%. Data Center revenue reached $6.72 billion, a 107% increase from last year, and now accounts for 58% of total revenue.
AMD has secured major partnerships with companies like Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, and Microsoft, committing to deploy significant amounts of its MI450 Series GPUs and Instinct GPUs in production environments. This ramp-up in demand is reflected in the company's Q3 guidance, which anticipates approximately $13 billion in revenue, a 41% year-over-year growth.
Lisa Su, AMD's CEO, has stated that AI is driving significant expansion in compute demand across all markets, positioning the company well to capture this expanding opportunity and deliver substantial revenue and earnings growth.
