American Airlines plans largest Admirals Club lounge for Charlotte airport
American Airlines is set to open its largest Admirals Club lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in early 2028. This new location will be the airport's biggest, spanning over 40,000 square feet on the mezzanine level of the atrium. The design will incorporate elements inspired by Charlotte's tree canopy, textile history, and Southern hospitality. The lounge will feature various zones, including spa-style shower suites, dining areas, and beverage stations.
Construction on the new lounge is scheduled to begin this year and is expected to be completed by 2028. American Airlines also plans to introduce a high-end Flagship lounge at CLT, though the timeline for this project has not yet been announced. The airport currently hosts several lounges, including Admirals Club locations in Concourse B and Concourse C/D, as well as a Provisions lounge in Concourse A. The long-term plan involves keeping the Provisions and the Admirals Club in Concourse B, while the future of the C/D Admirals Club remains undetermined.
In addition to American Airlines' expansions, other lounges are planned for CLT. American Express' Sidecar by The Centurion lounge is expected to open in Concourse A in 2027, and Capital One plans to open a 14,000-square-foot lounge near gates 21-29, though the timeline for the latter has not been specified. Once all projects are completed, American Airlines will offer a total of four lounge options at CLT.
