American Airlines Unveils 14 New Routes from World's Busiest Airport

American Airlines continues to expand its presence at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD), announcing the launch of 14 new routes in 2026/27. This growth is part of a larger effort by the Fort Worth-based carrier to strengthen its hub and provide more options for customers.

The most notable addition is the Tokyo Narita (NRT) route, which will begin operating daily on March 27 next year using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These aircraft feature 30 Flagship business class flatbeds and 21 premium economy recliners, offering passengers a high level of comfort on long-haul flights.

In addition to Tokyo Narita, American Airlines is introducing nine new regional routes from O'Hare, including Allentown, Charlottesville, Erie, Harlingen, Lincoln, Lewisburg, Marion, Shenandoah, and South Bend. These destinations will be served by regional jets under the American Eagle brand.

The carrier is also adding three mainline domestic routes to its O'Hare network: Maui in Hawaii, Ontario, California, and San Jose, California. Daily flights to these destinations will operate from mid-December using 787-8s and 737 narrowbodies.
