American Express Sees Double-Digit Growth in Q1 Earnings
On Q1 2026 earnings call, American Express (AXP) Chairman and CEO Stephen Squeri stated that revenue for the quarter increased by 12% year-over-year to $13.8 billion. This growth was driven by a 10% increase in card member spending.
Net interest income rose 14% to $2.4 billion, while expenses decreased 5% to $11.4 billion. The company's net income reached $1.3 billion, a 15% jump from the previous year.
CFO Christophe Le Caillec noted that American Express has seen significant growth in its premium products, with spending on these cards up by 17%. Squeri also mentioned that the company is focused on expanding its global presence and increasing its share of the digital payments market.
