American Express Sees Stable Consumer Delinquencies Amid Rising Small-Business Write-Offs
American Express recently reported its August delinquency and write-off statistics, which showed stable consumer delinquencies and a slight increase in small-business net write-offs.
The company's total U.S. Consumer balances stood at $114.2 billion in August, with a 30-day delinquency rate of 1.1% and a net write-off rate of 1.7%. This marks no significant change from previous months.
In contrast, the small business segment saw an uptick in net write-offs, rising to 2.2% in August from 1.9% previously. The total U.S. Consumer + Small Business balances held for investment totaled $160.3 billion in August.
