Trump Backs Flock Cameras Despite Misuse Concerns
US President Donald Trump has expressed his support for Flock cameras, stating that he 'likes them' because of their use in law enforcement. The comments came during a recent trip to Ireland, where Trump attended the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament at his Doonbeg golf resort.
Flock cameras have been at the center of controversy due to concerns over misuse and power overreach. A D.C. police union alleged that the Metropolitan Police Department improperly used data from a Flock license-plate reader, citing a lack of transparency and guardrails.
In response to the allegations, Flock Safety stated that changes would be made regarding anti-abuse safeguards. The company claimed that issues with surveillance technology had been addressed, but investigations found evidence of misuse by police officers, including personal surveillance.
