American Restores Local Catering at London Heathrow After Seven-Month Disruption
American Airlines is restoring full local catering at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) after a seven-month disruption, with all Boeing 777-200 flights already transitioned and the remaining operation expected to move to local provisioning by October 28.
The airline had been relying on food loaded in the United States for portions of its return operation due to a shortage of specialized catering trucks, but has now secured five additional trucks with seven more expected shortly, bringing the Heathrow fleet to 17 vehicles.
DO & CO will continue as American's permanent Heathrow catering provider, and coordinators will remain aboard every aircraft departing Heathrow to verify that the correct quantities have been delivered and positioned correctly before passengers enter the aircraft.
