American Express is expanding its rewards program by adding Airbnb benefits to its Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card. This move aims to bridge the gap in rewards for home-sharing platforms, which have traditionally offered limited options for earning or redeeming points. The new perks include the ability to book Airbnb stays through Amex Travel™, providing cardholders with more flexibility and rewards for their lodging choices.
Alongside the Airbnb additions, Amex is also making subtle changes to how cardholders redeem statement credits. For instance, the Fine Hotels + Resorts program will require a minimum two-night stay starting January 1, 2027, to be eligible for the $600 Hotel Credit. This adjustment tightens the rules for earning credits, potentially impacting frequent travelers who prefer shorter stays.
The Business Platinum Card is also introducing new benefits, such as access to coworking spaces, enhancing its appeal to business travelers. These updates reflect Amex's ongoing efforts to tailor its rewards program to the evolving needs of its cardholders, whether for leisure or business travel.
