American Express has announced a new benefit for its Platinum cardholders in Germany. Starting October 1, 2026, they will be able to redeem six 20 Euro food and beverage credits at various vendors at Frankfurt and Munich airports.

The 'Lounge on the Go' perk is an attempt by Amex to make up for the loss of Lufthansa lounge access, which ends on October 1, 2026. The credits can be used once per calendar day and are only available for cards issued in Germany.

The partner Platinum Card will not count as separate purchase eligibility, meaning that cardholders traveling with others can only use the credit once a day. This has led some to suggest that the benefit may not provide much value, especially considering the annual fee of 720 Euro per year.
