Amex Tests Higher Platinum Bonus as Chase Devalues Hyatt Transfers

American Express is reportedly testing an increased welcome bonus for its Platinum Card of up to 185,000 points after $11,000 in spend, a higher target than the current 175,000 points after $12,000. These test links are not publicly confirmed, and no official rollout has been announced.

Meanwhile, Chase is reducing Hyatt transfer rates by 25% starting October 1, changing the conversion rate from 1:1 to 4:3. This devaluation will likely reduce point value for future redemptions on luxury stays at participating hotels.

Marriott Bonvoy has introduced limited-time sign-up bonuses of up to 150,000 points, plus a $250 credit on its Brilliant card and 125,000 points on its Bevy card. Cardholders should carefully consider their travel needs before applying or transferring points, as missing peak bonuses can lead to lost opportunities.
