Amgen and AstraZeneca's Lung Cancer Therapy Combo Shows Improved Survival Rates

Amgen and AstraZeneca have announced positive results from a phase III study evaluating their combination therapy for small-cell lung cancer. The DeLLphi-305 study assessed Imdelltra (tarlatamab) in combination with Imfinzi (durvalumab) as a first-line maintenance treatment for extensive-stage SCLC patients whose cancer had not progressed after induction treatment.

The results showed that the combination achieved its primary endpoint of overall survival and met a key secondary endpoint of progression-free survival. While no numerical data was provided, both companies stated that there were no new safety concerns identified in the study.

Imdelltra is already approved for second-line treatment of ES-SCLC and has generated $546 million in global sales during the first half of 2026. The positive results could expand its addressable patient population significantly, particularly if it gains approval as a first-line maintenance treatment.
