Amgen and AstraZeneca's Tezspire Scores Positive Phase 3 Trial in Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Amgen and AstraZeneca have announced positive results from their Phase 3 trial of Tezspire for treating eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). The CROSSING trial, which involved 368 patients aged 12-80 years with symptomatic EoE, met its co-primary endpoints at week 24, measuring histologic remission and dysphagia symptom improvement. These results were sustained through week 52.

Tezspire is currently approved in several countries for treating severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. The safety profile of Tezspire was consistent with its approved indications, and the companies plan to share full trial results at an upcoming medical meeting and with regulatory authorities.

EoE affects over 470,000 people in the US, with a prevalence that has increased five-fold since 2009. Nearly half of patients do not achieve adequate disease control with current treatments, highlighting the need for new therapeutic options like Tezspire.
