Amgen Expands Presence in India with Major Research Centre at Genome Valley

Amgen, a global biotechnology company, has announced plans to establish a major Research and Innovation Centre at Genome Valley in Hyderabad. The centre will further strengthen Telangana's position as a leading global destination for life sciences research and innovation.

The MoU was signed between Amgen India and the Government of Telangana in the presence of IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat. Amgen had recently established a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad with around 3,000 employees, reflecting the company's growing confidence in the city's talent pool and infrastructure.

Minister Sridhar Babu welcomed the development, saying it would create employment opportunities for highly skilled professionals and add momentum to Hyderabad's emergence as a global hub for advanced life sciences research. He urged Amgen to give priority to local youth and talent from Telangana while recruiting for the proposed research centre.

The new centre is expected to further strengthen Genome Valley's position as a globally recognised cluster for biotechnology, pharmaceutical research and innovation.
