Amgen Graduate Programme: A Gateway to Biotech Careers
Conor Hughes is a process development associate in inspection at Amgen's graduate programme. He credits his early interest in science and discovery, starting from age six when he attended the Young Scientist Exhibition with his grandparents.
Hughes' first foray into the STEM space began as a child, but it wasn't until his undergraduate studies in chemical engineering at UCD that he became aware of the biotech industry's economic significance.
He completed a 12-month internship at Amgen during his master's programme and found the graduate programme to be a natural next step. Hughes enjoys the variety of his job, which includes working with colleagues across different functions to find solutions and developing vision tools that use image processing to identify potential defects.
