Amgen Hit by Cyber Incident Involving Patient Data Theft
Amgen Inc., a California-based drugmaker, has reported a cyber incident involving the theft of patient information and proprietary data stored in cloud servers.
The company said it detected unauthorized access to the data on third-party cloud servers in July and subsequently learned that some of the data had been exfiltrated from the cloud environment.
Amgen's filing stated that the incident is material due to the volume of files affected and the risk that sensitive information was compromised, but the company has not identified any impact on its products, manufacturing operations, or financial reporting systems.
The investigation into the cyber incident is ongoing, and Amgen declined to comment beyond the filing.
