Trump Targets Oil Companies Over Gas Prices Amid Midterm Election Fears
U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his call for lower gas prices, targeting oil companies and their CEOs in the process.
In a social media post, Trump blasted Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for not crediting his administration's efforts to help the oil industry, particularly with regards to creating a market in Venezuela.
Trump claimed that without his administration's support, the oil industry would be 'dead,' and pointed out that Chevron was thrown out of Venezuela but is now back and stronger than ever before.
The President also took aim at other oil companies, demanding that they lower their consumer prices. Global oil prices have plunged after Trump called off a planned attack on Iran over the weekend, but gas prices at the pump do not necessarily follow suit.
