Amgen Launches AMG 691 Phase 1 Trial in Asian Markets
Amgen Inc (AMGN) has initiated a new Phase 1 trial called 'A Phase 1, Open-Label, Single-Dose Study to Evaluate the Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Tolerability of AMG 691 Administered in Healthy Chinese and Japanese Participants.' The study aims to understand how AMG 691, a single injectable drug, behaves in the body and assess its safety in East Asian populations.
The trial began on July 30, 2026, after first submission, and is currently recruiting participants. As part of this interventional design with random assignment to groups, AMG 691 will be administered under the skin to healthy volunteers to measure drug levels over time and check for side effects.
The study's focus on basic science questions rather than direct patient treatment suggests that it is an early-stage assessment of AMG 691's efficacy. The update reinforces Amgen's efforts to build a broader pipeline in Asia, which can support long-term revenue diversification and improve market sentiment if results stay clean.
