Apple Stock Faces Valuation Test Ahead of September Product Cycle

Apple's stock has been trading in a narrow range of $310-313 as investors shift their focus from its strong earnings report to the upcoming September product cycle. The company is set to unveil its new iPhone models, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone, on September 9.

The standard iPhone 18 is expected to be pushed back to spring 2027, which may make the fall cycle more premium and increase the average selling price. However, this strategy also makes Apple's results more dependent on demand for higher-priced models.

Apple's margin quality will be under scrutiny as investors look at its quarterly earnings reports. In the June quarter, the company posted a record revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% year-over-year, but its overall gross margin received support from tariff refunds.

The Treasury yields remain a key factor in Apple's valuation, with elevated levels creating problems for expensive technology stocks. A sustained decline in Treasury yields below 4.60% could give the market more room to re-rate AAPL higher.
