Amgen Offloads Deerfield Campus in $151M Sale-Leaseback Deal
Pharmaceutical giant Amgen has sold its Deerfield office campus to an entity affiliated with Mesirow for $151 million. The complex, which spans 70 acres and totals 660,000 square feet of office space, was acquired by Horizon Therapeutics in 2020 from Takeda Pharmaceuticals for $115 million.
The property has changed hands at least three times in six years, with Amgen acquiring it through its purchase of Horizon Therapeutics in 2023. Mesirow's real estate arm specializes in sale-leasebacks and has completed over $8 billion in such transactions over the past three decades.
Fortune Brands Innovations plans to occupy two buildings at the site, with a goal of employing up to 1,000 people by 2027. Amgen will retain space in the third building as part of the sale-leaseback deal.
