Amgen Scores Phase 3 Win with Investigational Sjögren's Drug
Amgen's pipeline is gaining traction as the company announced that its investigational drug dazodalibep has scored a phase 3 win in treating Sjögren's disease. The condition, which affects the tear and salivary glands, causes debilitating symptoms such as dry eyes and mouth.
The study, Oasiz 301, enrolled 651 patients with moderate-to-severe Sjögren's. After 48 weeks of treatment, patients given dazodalibep had significantly improved scores on the EULAR Sjögren's Syndrome Disease Activity Index (ESSDAI) compared to placebo, hitting the trial's primary endpoint.
The most common side effects were mild or moderate nasal inflammation, urinary tract infection, hypertension, and infusion-related reactions. Amgen is also running a long-term extension study that is open to patients from both Oasiz trials.
