Amgen, a global biotechnology company, is expanding its presence in Hyderabad by setting up a new research and innovation centre at Genome Valley. The company has signed an MoU with the state government to establish the centre, which will be part of Amgen's global R&D network of seven research laboratories.

The centre, expected to become operational in 2027, will bring together scientists and technologists working in discovery chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, and precision medicine. This move is expected to create employment opportunities for highly skilled professionals and further solidify Hyderabad's position as a global hub for advanced life sciences research.

According to IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, the centre will be a significant addition to the city's life sciences ecosystem. He requested Amgen to prioritize local youth and talent from Telangana while recruiting for the proposed research centre, so that the state's young professionals can benefit from the high-value employment opportunities.
