Analysts Pick Top Stocks Ahead of Earnings Season
On CNBC's 'Halftime Report Final Trades,' stock analysts picked three top stocks for their portfolios. UnitedHealth Group, Inc. (NYSE:UNH) was the first choice. The company is set to release its third-quarter financial results on Tuesday, October 13, before the opening bell. Analysts expect quarterly earnings of $4.14 per share on revenue of $111.49 billion.
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) was another top pick by Malcolm Ethridge, managing partner at Capital Area Planning Group. The analyst upgrade from HSBC's Saul Martinez last July added to the stock's appeal. He upgraded Goldman Sachs from Reduce to Hold and raised the price target from $834 to $995.
Finally, Joseph M. Terranova, senior managing director for Virtus Investment Partners, chose Teradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ:TER). The company reported better-than-expected second-quarter results on July 28, with adjusted earnings of $2.47 per share and revenue more than doubling from a year earlier to $1.329 billion.
