Android Auto Media Player Gets Major Update with Swipe Gestures and Enhanced Features
Google has finally updated Android Auto's media player after months of anticipation. The new update brings several key changes, including a wavy progress bar when listening to music and an improved media player design that uses available screen estate more efficiently.
The most significant change is the introduction of swipe gestures in the media card on the Coolwalk screen. This allows users to switch between multiple media sessions, making it easier to resume playback with the press of a button. Previously, users had to navigate back to the app drawer and launch their preferred app.
Another notable feature is the ability to control any media app from the Android Auto interface. Similar to Apple CarPlay's Now Playing interface, this update shows information from various applications playing media on the car screen.
The update also addresses long-standing issues with auto-playing features. Users can now disable unsolicited play commands when autoplay is turned off, and Android Auto will learn from user behavior to optimize playback settings.
