Android Auto Updates: Improved Autoplay, Media Control, and Redesigned Player
Google has confirmed recent updates to Android Auto, addressing user concerns and introducing new features for media apps. The latest updates include the ability to control media from any app, a redesigned media app player, and improved autoplay functionality.
The redesign of the media app player aims to make playback controls more accessible on various screen sizes. This change has been rolling out since July and will begin affecting some apps in the next few months. In addition, users can now swipe between active media sessions from the dashboard widget, making it easier to access multiple apps.
Google has also made improvements to autoplay, including selecting media apps that have been recently used over others. If a user frequently stops autoplay, they will receive a pop-up notification allowing them to turn off the feature quickly. Furthermore, Google has fixed issues with autoplay starting even when it's turned off after the vehicle turns out.
The 'squiggly line' design for media players is here to stay, despite some users expressing concerns about its usefulness and appearance. According to Google, this redesign makes it easier to see where you are in a track at a glance.
