Android Devices Gain Tap-to-Share Feature
Google has introduced a new feature called 'Tap to Share' for Android devices. This feature allows users to share files and contact information by bringing their phones close together. The company announced this feature alongside the launch of the Pixel 11 series on Wednesday.
The Tap to Share feature is available on Pixel 6 and newer devices, and will soon be available on select Samsung Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8. This feature is similar to Apple's NameDrop feature on iOS, but Android beat Apple to the punch originally.
Tap to Share appears to be an evolution of Android Beam, a discontinued feature that let users send data over NFC. However, unlike its predecessor, Tap to Share allows users to share files and contact information in addition to digital business cards.
