American Airlines Takes Delivery of First Retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER

American Airlines has taken delivery of its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, which arrived at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on August 13 after an eight-month refit in Hong Kong. The aircraft, registration N718AN, will feature 70 Flagship Suites, 44 premium economy recliners, and 216 economy seats, marking a significant upgrade to the passenger experience.

The retrofit is part of American Airlines' Project Olympus, which aims to replace its old international first-class cabin with a new business class product. The aircraft was sent to Hong Kong in December for an extensive refit, during which it underwent significant changes, including the installation of larger entertainment screens and privacy wings for premium economy passengers.

Travelers on board will enjoy the airline's modern and fully enclosed business class seat, configured in a 1-2-1 layout. The technology includes Bluetooth audio pairing, wireless charging pads, and USB-C or USB-A ports. The fully lie-flat seating is complemented by mood lighting and personal storage compartments.

With this delivery, American Airlines takes another step towards closing the gap with its competitors in terms of premium cabin consistency and competitiveness.
