Android Introduces Secure Credential Transfer Feature

Android has rolled out a system-level feature that allows users to transfer passwords and passkeys between credential managers securely.

In the past, this process involved downloading credentials into an unencrypted text file, leaving them vulnerable on devices.

The new feature, available at launch for Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden Password Manager, and Dashlane, automates the transfer process by detecting existing password managers on a device and guiding users through the import flow.

User data is transferred securely in just a few seconds after review and authorization from their existing password manager.
