Android Launcher Turns Phones into Foldable Windows 8 Devices

Zachary Boddy, a seasoned journalist with over six years of experience covering technology and video games, recently discovered an Android launcher that turned his phone into a Windows 8 foldable device. The launcher, called METROV, is available on the Google Play Store and boasts full foldable support.

METROV's 'desktop mode' changes the inner screen to a traditional Windows 8 Start Screen-like layout when the phone is opened, rather than simply rescaling the cover screen layout to fit a bigger display. This feature allows users to experience a Windows Phone when their device is closed and a Windows PC tablet when it's open.

The launcher takes full advantage of Microsoft's classic Metro design language, even down to the transitions and animations. METROV also includes a ton of customization options and optional themes that take from Windows Phone 7 or 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 10 Mobile, and beyond, ensuring no two setups will ever look the same.
