Android Verification Rules Roll Out Globally Starting 2027
Google has introduced Android developer verification rules to ensure a safer and more trusted ecosystem for users. This new policy affects developers in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, requiring them to undergo verification before their apps can be widely available.
The system verifies app installations from various app stores, including Google Play, HONOR App Market, OPPO App Market, Galaxy Store, Palm Store, V-Appstore, and GetApps. The policy aims to deter bad actors, make developers accountable, enforce safety policies, and remove malicious networks.
The new process imposes a 24-hour waiting period before unverified apps can be installed on devices. This expanded verification will eventually cover all markets by 2027, with the goal of providing transparency in the Android ecosystem.
