Anthropic Inks Record $35B Cloud Deal for Nvidia Capacity

Anthropic has signed a major cloud deal worth $35 billion with Lambda for access to 350 megawatts of Nvidia capacity at a Texas data center. The agreement, first reported by The Wall Street Journal and confirmed by Reuters on August 31, will see Nvidia supply hardware to Lambda, which in turn will provide computing power for Anthropic's Claude models.

The deal is significant because it extends Anthropic's reliance on Nvidia hardware, despite the company having agreements with other providers such as Amazon and Nscale. Hut 8, a former Bitcoin miner turned AI infrastructure developer, is building the Texas data center where the Nvidia capacity will be housed.

Analysts have noted that arrangements like this can reinforce demand for Nvidia products while limiting financial risk, but also raise transparency concerns around financing relationships.
