Anthropic IPO Expected to Bring Huge Fees for Brokerages
The highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company that produces the Claude chatbot, is expected to take place in October.
Experts project that Anthropic could raise as much as $100 billion through this IPO, surpassing SpaceX's previous record of $86 billion and valuing the company at a staggering $2 trillion.
The excitement surrounding this IPO has investors wondering how they will react. However, what is more certain is the significant boost the brokerages handling the IPO will receive.
In 2020, SpaceX's IPO generated $500 million in fees for its advisors, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley serving as lead advisors. Both banks saw their stock prices rise significantly after being named as lead advisors, with Goldman Sachs' share price reaching an all-time high of $1,152 per share on July 15.
Giving investors a chance to get these stocks on the dip before the Anthropic IPO comes out, both Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have come off their all-time highs set in July. Goldman Sachs is trading at just 15 times earnings and 13 times forward earnings, while Morgan Stanley has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 16 and a forward P/E of 15.
