Anthropic IPO Set to Ignite AI Industry Growth
Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence lab founded by Daniela and Dario Amodei in 2021, is preparing to make its public market debut. The company's private valuation stands at approximately $965 billion, surpassing OpenAI's valuation of around $852 billion. Anthropic has become the fastest-growing technology company in history, with an annualized revenue run rate (ARR) of about $65 billion.
The company specializes in the enterprise market and advanced software coding through its Claude models, differing from OpenAI's focus on mass-market consumers with ChatGPT. Several publicly traded companies hold significant Anthropic stakes, including Zoom Video, Salesforce, Amazon, Alphabet, and SK Telecom. Amazon leads the pack with an Anthropic stake valued at around $43 billion, which is only about 2% of its market cap.
Anthropic's IPO, expected to happen by the end of October or by the end of 2026, according to Polymarket betting markets, will serve as a crucial barometer for the AI industry. With AI spending accounting for the lion's share of GDP growth in the United States, Anthropic's performance is closely watched.
