Anthropic's $11.6 Billion Deal Dents Amazon Stock Value
Amazon's stock price dipped to $248.515 on September 25 after Anthropic announced a seven-year, $11.6 billion deal with Akamai for cloud infrastructure. The agreement covers CPU workloads and is estimated to require around $5.5 billion in capital spending from Akamai.
The partnership also includes a warrant that could potentially give Anthropic a 5% stake in Akamai, as well as an additional $9 billion of business that could expand the relationship further.
AWS, Amazon's cloud computing platform, remains a significant supplier for Anthropic despite this new deal. However, investors are weighing whether Amazon can benefit from Anthropic's rising value while another supplier wins its next infrastructure contract.
