AP Courts Global Giants for Industrial and Tech Hub Ambitions

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh has been on a mission to attract major investments from global companies. He recently met with executives of leading firms in New Delhi to pitch the state as a preferred destination for various sectors.

Lokesh invited Vivo to establish a mobile phone components manufacturing facility in Tirupati, along with a dedicated components manufacturing park for its suppliers. The company currently manufactures around 154.2 million smartphones annually, mostly at its Greater Noida facility.

Cisco was also approached to set up an Engineering Centre or Global Capability Centre in Visakhapatnam, as well as a manufacturing facility for Unified Computing System (UCS) servers, switches and routers. The state aims to attract the complete data centre value chain.

Abbott was invited to establish medical devices and diagnostics manufacturing units at AMTZ or one of the state's Electronics Manufacturing Clusters. A generic medicines manufacturing unit is also proposed for the upcoming Bulk Drug Park in Nakkapalli.

Mother company Godrej has already implemented previously announced investment projects in Andhra Pradesh and will examine new proposals, including agrochemical and food processing investments. Yara was invited to establish a green ammonia manufacturing and export complex in Kakinada.
