Apple Bolsters Defenses Against Rogue AI Agents
Apple is launching new safeguards to protect its devices from probing artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The iPhone maker has announced that it will update its controls regarding 'Full Disk Access' in its macOS operating system, following concerns over AI agents potentially accessing user data on Apple devices.
The Silicon Valley-based company warned that developers using 'Full Disk Access' can expose everything on their systems to AI agents, including files, email, private messages, and browsing history. This creates potential privacy issues not only for the user but also for others they communicate with.
Apple plans to introduce additional controls to ensure that users who genuinely need to grant an app 'Full Disk Access' can do so only with explicit user action. The update comes after Apple recently unveiled its latest products, including the first foldable iPhone.
